Happy New Year 2026!

Across the school, pupils have been busy learning, creating and developing new skills. Team R enjoyed an exciting dance workshop led by Redbridge School, exploring movements such as travel, jump and stillness while building confidence, rhythm and teamwork. Team 1/2 showed great perseverance during a festive DT project, sewing their own Christmas decorations and developing fine motor skills, patience and creativity, with fantastic support from volunteers. Team 3/4 impressed us with their imaginative writing inspired by Interview With A Tiger, using ambitious vocabulary and different sentence types to create their own interviews. Meanwhile, Team 5/6 became journalists, writing engaging newspaper reports based on Wolf Brother. Well done to all our pupils for their enthusiasm, effort and creativity!

Team R:

Year R children had a fantastic time experiencing a dance class delivered by Redbridge School. The session introduced the five key aspects of creating a dance sequence: travel, jump, gesture, turn and stillness. The children explored each movement with enthusiasm, learning how their bodies can move in different ways to express ideas and feelings. They listened carefully, followed instructions, and worked confidently in the space. To finish, everyone stepped to the beat together, creating an amazing and confident start to a routine they will be practising and developing over the next few weeks. This experience built teamwork, rhythm, and enjoyment.

Team 1 / 2:

Busy Hands in Team 1/2

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, our Year 1/2 children have been incredibly busy with a festive sewing project in DT. The results were wonderful to see!

The children designed and created their very own Christmas decorations, learning how to sew using a running stitch. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their fine motor skills, patience, and confidence as they carefully threaded needles and stitched their designs. Once the sewing was complete, the decorations were brought to life with sparkly sequins, adding lots of festive colour and creativity.

The children showed great perseverance and pride in their work, and it was lovely to see how focused and enthusiastic they were throughout the activity.

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who gave up their time to help support the children with their sewing. Your help made a big difference and allowed every child to feel supported and successful, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Well done to Team 1/2 for their fantastic festive creations. We hope you enjoyed taking them home to decorate your Christmas tree!

Team 3 / 4:

Team 3/4 have enjoyed an exciting writing journey inspired by the text Interview With A Tiger by Andy Seed. The children explored how to write in an informal style, using chatty language. They developed their vocabulary by learning new, ambitious words such as dominance, elusive, formidable, navigate, solitary and thrive, and practised using them in their writing. The children also focused on writing different sentence types including statements, questions, commands and exclamations, as well as using subordinating conjunctions like when, if, because and although. To finish the unit, the children wrote their own interviews with a clawed creature, carefully thinking about the animal’s personality and mood. We are very proud of their creative and confident writing!

Team 5 / 6:

Year 5/6 English – Wolf Brother

Team 5/6 have been reading Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver as part of their English learning. After focusing on the dramatic event where the main character is kidnapped by the Raven Clan, the children wrote their own newspaper reports based on the story. They explored the key features of a newspaper report, including headlines, formal language and factual detail. Pupils then formatted their work on laptops or carefully wrote their reports in neat handwriting. The finished pieces show great creativity and effort. A claw-some piece of journalism from Team 5/6!
