Team R: Autumnal Learning
Team R have taken a walk through the woods this week, encountering scary wolves along the way! Just like Little Red, we have woven baskets for fruit in science, made get well soon cards for Grandma, and pinched cheerios through creepy spider webs. Outside, we have poked holes in pumpkins and created autumn confetti out of fallen leaves!
Team 1 / 2: Who created the World?
Southampton City Mission came to spend a day with us and help us to learn about the wonders of the World and Christian beliefs. We met Ellie, who shared stories about the creation from the Bible and showed us her ‘magic Bible’, which we added colour to. We had a competition between Elm, Beech, and Cedar classes to find things in the natural world – which God had made – and started with each letter of the alphabet.
We went out to explore the school grounds – Elm class won (but only just!)
We made pledges of how we would look after the World which God created for us. Later, we created our own collage pictures inspired by our wonderful World which God has given us. It was a great day and lots of fun was had by all!
Team 3 / 4: Writing Narratives
This week in writing, Team 3/4 have started to write their ‘Once In A Lifetime’ narrative. We watched a short film about an intrepid pilot who runs into difficulty when sailing his boat through the air! He hears a noise and suddenly gliding into view are some giant, flying turtles. We have tried hard to incorporate noun phrases, ‘show don’t tell’ techniques, powerful verbs, and a variety of nouns / pronouns for cohesion.
Team 5 / 6: Pop-Art
This week in Art, Team 5/6 have explored the iconic style of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, focusing on his use of Ben Day dots. This technique allowed the children to create vibrant, comic-book style images that are both visually striking and expressive. We think it looks amazing!
