Soaring into September!

What a fantastic start to the new school year! Our students have jumped into their learning with enthusiasm and creativity across all year groups. Team R students have settled in wonderfully, making new friends and exploring their classroom. We'd love to share photos of their journey, so please remember to update your photo consent on Arbor. Team 1/2, students have been captivated by the Creation story in RE, using various materials to create their own magical creatures and inventions.Team 3/4 have been busy writing, inspired by the poem 'Tell Me a Dragon,' while also strengthening their maths skills and practicing joined handwriting. Finally, Team 5/6 have become portrait masters! Inspired by Thomas Gainsborough, they've used pencils and pastels to create stunning, soft-focus portraits that are truly works of art.

Team R:

What a wonderful first week we’ve had in Reception! It’s been a joy to welcome our new students and see them embrace their new classroom with such enthusiasm. We are incredibly proud of how well they have all settled in. They are already making new friends, exploring the different learning areas, and getting to know our daily routines.

You might be wondering why there aren’t any photos from this first week. We’d love to share snapshots of their learning journey with you, but we can’t post any pictures until we’ve received photo consent for students.

To help us share the amazing things your children are doing, please log in to Arbor to update your photo consent settings

Team 1 / 2:

As part of the children’s RE learning , they have been learning about the Creation story. This week, the children learned what creation meant and explored lots of different materials to make their own magical creations.

They then shared their creations and spoke about them. They had some amazing ideas and creations included magical houses, gold making machines, unicorn dogs and other amazing creatures as well as patterns and sculptures. We talked about why their creations were special to them and will be learning about God’s creations and how we can respect and care for the wonderful things he has made us in the forthcoming weeks. We are very excited to learn more…

Team 3 / 4:

Year 3/4 have made a great start to the year! In writing, we’ve explored Jackie Morris’s poem ‘Tell Me a Dragon’, playing with rich vocabulary and sketching ideas for our own dragons. In maths, we’ve been securing number facts by exploring different ways to group and arrange addends. We’ve also continued our work on joined handwriting, practising in lessons and applying it in our work. A busy and exciting first week!

Team 5 / 6:

Inspired by the dreamy, soft-focus portraits of Thomas Gainsborough, our Year 5/6 artists have become portrait masters this week! We began by carefully studying the elegant poses and expressive faces in his paintings, then used sharp pencils to sketch our own partner portraits, focusing on getting the proportions just right. The real magic happened when we brought our drawings to life with vibrant pastels. Just like Gainsborough’s hazy backgrounds, we learned to blend and soften our colours not with our fingers, but by gently smudging with tissue paper to create beautiful, smoky effects and soft skin tones. Our finished artworks are truly fit for an art gallery, capturing both a likeness and a sense of graceful atmosphere.
