Traditional Tales, Bug Hunting, Puppet Making and Responsibility… all in a week at Rownhams!

It's been another fun week at Rownhams and we have seen great learning across the school. Meanwhile we are sending our positive vibes and virtual smiles to the children that remain at home - and at the same time congratulate you for persevering with your home learning.

First of all, I would like to direct parents to our ParentMail, which we will be arriving in your inbox today with regards to our end of term arrangements. Please take the time to read this but also note that more information will also follow next week.

Lord God, you are always with me.

You are with me in the day and in the night.

You are with me when I’m happy and when I’m sad.

You are with me when I’m healthy and when I am ill.

You are with me when I am peaceful and when I am worried.

You are with we when things are easy and when they are hard.

You are with me at home and when I am at school,

You are with me in lockdown, in bubbles and when we socially distance,

Help me to remember that you love me and are with me in everything today.

Fun in Year R...

The children in our Year R bubbles have really benefited from being back in school and we are really proud of their achievements so far. Check out the gallery below to see some photos from their bug hunting!

Traditional Tales in Year 1

This week Year 1 have been looking at the traditional tales The Enormous Turnip and Hansel and Gretel. The children tasted root vegetables and made a tally of which vegetables they all liked. The children also designed and decorated gingerbread men to live in the gingerbread house.

Key Workers & Year 6

Throughout the three weeks since we returned to school our Key Worker children have focused their time in the afternoons to learning more about our School Values. In the gallery below the children are holding their ‘thank you’ cards for people who look after them. The children learned what we are responsible for and then how others can be responsible for us – and we wanted to thank them with a card.

Year 6 have been creating Victorian puppets in their design technology lessons. Next, they will be writing scripts for a performance for their puppets to perform in.

Kindness, with The Duchess of Cambridge

This week on the Oak National Academy The Duchess of Cambridge led an assembly on the importance of spreading a little kindness for our mental wellbeing. The assembly was developed in collaboration with children’s mental health charity Place2Be and encourages children to explore ways in which they can show kindness, and recognise the benefits of kindness to others.
