Year R - Christmas is Coming!
The children have been extremely busy preparing a very special present to take home for Christmas. I won’t give away the surprise but there has been drawing, writing, printing, wrapping and labelling! They can’t wait to give their gifts.
We also enjoyed celebrating Christmas by taking part in the whole school Christingle Service.
Year 3/4 - Enjoying a moment's peace!
We have been reading and performing some festive poetry this week in Year 3/4 and we have also been busy using our mathematical skills (learned this term) to solve lots of Christmas maths mysteries. In addition, excitingly, on Wednesday, we reflected on what Angels may look like, what their jobs are and why Angels are important in the first Christmas story. This week has been rounded off with lots of celebration in our classes of Christmas – Jesus’ birthday – one of the most important times in the Christian calendar! Amidst all the business we took a little trip to the KS2 library to take time to find some treasures to read and to rest and enjoy a quiet moment or two. We hope that you also find moments of such peace and joy this Christmas. Happy Christmas everyone from Year 3/4!
Year 5/6 - Comparing Texts
This week the children have designed their front covers for The Highwayman and self assessed their writing using success criteria that they created themselves in class. This was a highly successful and enjoyable activity that helped the children to reflect on their writing’s effect on the reader. They have completed reading Boy Overboard which the children thoroughly enjoyed. To end this unit they produced a summary mind map making links between characters, themes, settings and plots. In computing, the children completed their true/false circuits using Sam Labs and created their unique quiz to test their programming. In RE, the children have explored the concept of Jesus as a messiah and considered what a modern day messiah would say to the people of the twenty first century.
