Fun in the Sun

It's been a very warm week in school so we have tried to make the most of the sunshine but occasionally hid inside as it has been too hot at times! Year R have continued with their bug exploring and even had a letter from the fairies. Year 1 have been keeping cool, whilst learning about capacity with water buckets, jugs and balancing scales. Year 6 have started to think about their 'socially-distanced' production and taken part in some transition sessions for their move to 'big' school - exciting times! Our Key Workers have been researching countries around the world and creating collages whilst our Home Learners have been busy, too, with tie-dying and a whole host of creative and fun activities.

Congratulations Mrs Phillips & Family

Firstly, we must (belatedly) announce that Elliott George Phillips arrived on 23 May 2020 at 3.32pm, weighing 7.4lbs. He made a very swift appearance shortly after Mrs Phillips officially finished work (on 22nd May) and just in time for the half term. They family are well and at home and loving every minute.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing Mrs Phillips and family every happiness.

Year R's Bugs & Fairies

This week Year R have been really excited to find out more about minibeasts for the fairies. After receiving a mysterious key, small furniture and letter the children have been working hard to find out all they can about the insects. They have designed and created bug hotels and have been observing the minibeasts activity outside in the woodland area.  Their teachers have even let them bring some back to the classroom! The children have made their own moving ladybirds and also created summer collages. Year R made bugs from natural materials and have written some fantastic sentences in preparation for replying to Bluebell.

Year 1's Water Fun in the Sun

Year 1 have been learning all about capacity this week, which turned out to be the perfect activity for a very hot day! They have also been learning to tell the time and have made Jack and the Beanstalk characters from lego.

Key Worker Country Collages

This week our Key Worker groups have been independently researching all about a country of their choice and have created these brilliant collages in their art lessons.

Creative Learning from Home

Our Home Learners have been working on a huge range of different activities showing that they haven’t forgotten their Learning Buttons even though they haven’t been in school! Here is a selection, including stunning examples from the Creative Challenges set by Mrs Tompkins and Mr Woodford.

The children in Year 3/4 were set the challenge to think about what makes them happy. They were encouraged to be creative in their response and be ready to show and talk about what made them happy in the class meets this week. Mariella made some tie die craft, Toby made a video and a football cake – on his video he spoke about his love of football and why this made him happy, Enzo produced some work about his love of the beach and Gillan created a video about how learning the piano and making his own compositions made him happy. This is a new skill for him during lockdown

Details for 20th July (Year 2, 3, 4 and 5)

We have had a few enquiries with regards to how the 20th July will be organised for our day with Year 2, 3, 4 and 6. We will be writing to parents next week with the finer details and timings. This will be sent via ParentMail so look out for this in your email inboxes.

The sessions are likely to be for around 2 hours either during the morning or in the afternoon depending on your child’s year group. Key Worker support will be available.
