Happy Christmas Team Rownhams!

In the blog this week: Winter Warmer, Nativity, Sewing, and Architecture. This week on the blog, Team R and KS1 are sharing photos from some Christmas events that they have enjoyed recently. Meanwhile in KS2, the children have been developing their creative skills, including sewing and architectural design! Keep reading to find out more about what the children have been up to this week.

Team R: Winter Warmer

On Wednesday Team R welcomed in our Year R families to their ‘Winter Warmer’ event, where the children performed some festive songs, and shared some stories with one another. It was a lovely afternoon and it was great to see lots of you there. We look forward to similar events in the future!

Team 1 / 2: Prickly Hay

Team 1/2 performed their Nativity play ‘Prickly Hay’ last week. We loved watching both performances, and it was lovely to see everyone who came along to watch. We hope you enjoyed hearing all of the songs practiced at home!

Team 3 / 4: Super Sewing

This half term, Team 3/4 have been working hard on their sewing skills within a DT project.  The brief given to the children was about creating a case of some kind that could contain pencils, phone or other similar objects.  The children all evaluated different existing designs, chose their own style and what decorations they would attempt to create.  With the help of many willing family volunteers, the children successfully create some amazing products.  Thanks to all the adults who supported us with the threading and unknotting of cotton – all the staff are very grateful!

Team 5 / 6: Amazing Architecture

Taking our inspiration from ground breaking architect Zaha Hadid, described as ‘a planet in her own orbit’, Team 5/6 were challenged to design a new sports hall for the school. They had to create a sleek design that represented what the building would be used for, as well as keeping inline with Hadid’s smooth lines with points style of design.
