Seasonal Sparkle Meets Brilliant Learning!

This week has been filled with creativity and festive learning across the school. Team R proudly shared their wonderful art, including Rainbow Fish paintings, portraits, and story-inspired collages, delighting families who joined their Art Outcome. Team 1/2 explored instructional writing by making melted snowmen biscuits, enjoying plenty of sticky fun before creating their own festive recipes. In DT, Team 3/4 became designers, planning and crafting fantastic fabric containers with carefully chosen materials and decorative details. Team 5/6 had a busy, seasonal week too, with Christingle making, a school service, newspaper reports on Torak’s arrest, and enjoying the KS1 nativity, all alongside their regular lessons. A brilliant week of creativity, skill-building and festive cheer!

Team R:

A huge thank you to all our YR parents and carers for coming to our Art Outcome. We loved sharing our Rainbow Fish paintings, created using sponge painting, scraping and sparkling sequins. We hope you also enjoyed seeing our portraits and our fishy collages inspired by Boo! A Fishy Mystery and Tiddler. The children were very proud of their barn animals, linked to Chicken Licken and The Little Red Hen, which they painted, collaged and built with split pins.

Thank you for joining us and celebrating the children’s fantastic creativity. We are so proud of all our young artists!

Team 1 / 2:

This week in English, Team 1/2 have been busy learning all about instructions, just in time for the festive season! We explored a set of instructions on how to make toast and discussed why clear, step-by-step directions are so important. After all, if instructions aren’t easy to follow, things can get a little bit… sticky!

To put our learning into practice, the children followed the teacher’s instructions to make their own melted snowmen biscuits. There were plenty of giggles, sticky fingers, and lots of Christmas sparkle as they created their wonderfully melty masterpieces.

Afterwards, the children used everything they had learned to write their own instructions, so that people at home can try making the biscuits too. We hope you enjoy following their festive recipes just as much as they enjoyed creating them!

Team 3 / 4:

Designing Fantastic Fabric Containers in DT 🎒

We’ve had an amazing time in DT, acting as designers to create our own fabric containers! Our first step was analysing existing designs, where we quickly discovered that complexity increases with features like curved edges, zips, and multiple fabric pieces, making simple straight-edged pouches the easiest to manage. Next, we became the designers, carefully planning our unique containers by considering the shape and size for its intended purpose, choosing the necessary equipment (like scissors, pins, and needle/thread) for a safe build, and selecting embellishments such as appliqué, sequins, or embroidery to add a personal, creative flair. It was a great learning experience in translating a creative idea into a practical, step-by-step design plan!

Team 5 / 6:

With a variety of Christmas activities happening, Year 5/6 have had a very busy week:

Christingle making and in school service; independent newspaper write-ups about Torak’s arrest; watching the fantastic Key Stage 1 nativity; and Christmas jumper and dinner day.

Regular activities still continued with maths, reading and topic work. There’s no sign of slowing yet!
