Team R:
Our Year R children were excited to open our special History Box and explore what home life was like in the past. Inside, we discovered real household items from our grandparents’ time, including old toasters, a heavy mangle, metal whisks, kettles, and even a carpet beater! The children were fascinated by how different these objects looked compared to the ones we use today. They especially loved being able to hold each item and imagine how people used them many years ago. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that brought history to life and sparked lots of brilliant curiosity and conversation.

Celebrating a Magical Term of Reading in Team 1/2
Our Year 1 and Year 2 children have had a wonderful term immersing themselves in the world of reading. They have been working incredibly hard during their phonics lessons, practising new sounds, blending words, and growing in confidence every single day. It has been a joy to see their enthusiasm and determination as they develop such an important lifelong skill.
To round off their learning, the children had the chance to put their reading skills into action in the cosiest of ways. They snuggled up on bean bags in our library and in The Nest, choosing from a sparkling selection of Christmas books. From festive tales to winter adventures, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, curiosity, and that special seasonal magic that only a good book can bring.
We are so proud of the progress the children have made this term and delighted to see how much they truly enjoy reading. Thank you for the support you continue to give at home—it makes such a difference.
Team 3 / 4:
This week, Year 3/4 have been exploring the colourful world of collage art inspired by artist Megan Coyle, who creates striking images using strips of textured and coloured paper. The children used a range of patterned materials to design their own vibrant animal collages. They experimented with different colours, textures and shapes, layering strips to add depth, detail and movement to features like fur, feathers and backgrounds. Their careful choices and creativity resulted in bold, imaginative artworks that filled the classroom with colour and personality.
Team 5 / 6:
Exploring Ocean Currents – Year 5/6
This week, Team 5/6 have been busy learning about ocean currents and turning their ideas into some truly brilliant mind-map posters. After gathering information as a class and watching a short video to help our understanding, everyone worked hard to show what they had learned in a creative and thoughtful way.
The children discovered that ocean currents are a bit like invisible roads in the sea. One fascinating fact they learned is that understanding these currents can help rescuers know where to look for boats or people who are lost at sea. The water doesn’t just stay still—it moves in patterns—so rescuers can follow these “roads” to make their search quicker and safer.
But the real highlight of the lesson was the fantastic work produced by the class. Their mind maps show clear explanations, bright ideas, and impressive independent thinking. Each poster demonstrates how well the children understood the topic—and how confidently they can share their learning.
Well done Team 5/6, you’re all making waves with your learning!
