World Oceans Day

This week, we have celebrated World Oceans Day by wearing something blue to school. Year 3/4 have used some great primary school resources from the ‘Preventing Plastic Pollution project: https://twitter.com/Plastic_EU’ to help us think about how to better look after our oceans. They have written wonderful short stories and poems about the journey of a piece of rubbish to the ocean; created some stunning new designs for reusable countryside plastic and thought carefully about how we can reduce the amount of plastic in our lunchboxes. You can find more information on the World Ocean Day website, too.

Year R - Spending Time with the Year 1s

We have enjoyed getting to know the children in Year 1 this week. It was great fun to show them around our learning environment, play together and make new friends. Highlights of our time together include making food in the mud kitchen, looking after babies in the role play, balancing on the obstacle course and building models using the large wooden bricks.

Year 1/2 - Animal Survival

This week Year 1/2 have been looking at animal survival in science. We went outside onto the field and discussed what animals would be prey and what animals would be predators. The children then acted out different predators stalking, circling and pouncing on their prey! We had some excellent lions, eagles, spiders and sharks.

Year 5/6 - Clay models with movement

In art, the children have been exploring how futurist artists show the movement and energy of the modern world. They examined how Umberto Boccioni showed motion in a sculpture by making it appear that lines were blurred. The children then planned and made their own clay sculptures which showed movement.
