Our Story

Every school has a story. This is ours.

Our story begins with another story — a story of someone in need, people who passed by, and one person who chose to stop and help.

It is a story about what happens when we notice, when we care, and when we choose to act. At Rownhams, we want children to grow into people who make a positive difference — to themselves, to their community and to the world around them.

THE STORY AT OUR HEART

Who is my neighbour?

In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is asked, “Who is my neighbour?” He answers with the Parable of the Good Samaritan.

The story challenges us to look beyond ourselves and the people we already know. It reminds us that loving our neighbour means noticing others, showing compassion and taking responsibility for the difference we can make — in our relationships, our community and the wider world.

Notice. Care. Act.

Luke 10:25–37

OUR CHRISTIAN VISION

Rooted in faith, lived through action

At the heart of our Christian vision is the belief that every person is created and loved by God, uniquely valued and given gifts to grow and use well. Jesus teaches us to “love your neighbour as yourself”, and through the story of the Good Samaritan shows us what that love looks like in action.

This is reflected in the words we share together:

Together, we grow with love, joy and responsibility, so that we are prepared to make a positive difference to our own lives, our community, and the world around us.

Through Love, Joy and Responsibility, we encourage children to grow in wisdom, character and hope, use their gifts for good, serve others and care for God’s world.

OUR VALUES

How we grow together

Love, Joy and Responsibility shape how we learn, live and treat one another. They help us turn our vision into everyday choices and actions.

Love

“Love never fails.”

1 Corinthians 13:8

Love is the foundation of how we treat one another. It means showing kindness, compassion and respect — especially when doing so is not the easiest choice.

Joy

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Nehemiah 8:10

Joy is more than happiness. It helps us approach life with gratitude, hope and resilience, and to notice what is good even when things are difficult.

Responsibility

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.”

Colossians 3:23

Responsibility means taking ownership of our choices, our learning, our relationships and the world around us — doing the right thing and giving our best.

OUR PROMISE

From ourselves to the world around us

Our promise helps children and adults remember how our vision is lived out in everyday life. It begins with who we are, grows through our relationships with others, and reaches into the wider world.
