World Book Day 2020

We’ve had a fabulously busy week here at Rownhams. On Wednesday we held our annual Biathlon and on Thursday, of course, it was World Book Day! It was wonderful to see so many bikes in school and the children enjoying being active and outside despite the rain! The costumes—as you can see below—were amazing and really helped us to celebrate the wonderful world of books! Next week, we will open up our Book Fair, which will raise much needed funds to help us buy more new books for our library and classrooms—so your investment will support a good cause!

What does ‘Love’ look like at Rownhams?

This week we celebrated our School Value of ‘Love’. All the children took part in a range of activities that demonstrated our core value and to remind us why ‘Love’ is so important to our school. We have also had a number of project launches this week, including the visit of the Space Dome for Year 1/2 that doubled as a Dinosaur Dome for Year R in the morning.

Mrs Broyd, our Child and Family Support Worker, has been working closely with Romsey Young Carers so that we can better support children who have a role in caring for someone at home. We have also been closely supported by Ben Hogbin, one of our parent governors, who works for Winchester Young Carers. So, what is a Young Carer? How to keep your child safe online and Year 1/2 become Koala Protectors!

Do you know what you’re children are doing online? The internet is a great place to learn and have fun but we also need to know how to stay safe. Safer Internet Day is being celebrated on 11th February and we are running parent workshops to coincide with this. In other news this week, Year 1/2 are hoping to adopt a Koala, we have a reminder about the great work of our PTA and an outline of latest school improvement priorities.
