Mrs Broyd, our Child and Family Support Worker, has been working closely with Romsey Young Carers so that we can better support children who have a role in caring for someone at home. We have also been closely supported by Ben Hogbin, one of our parent governors, who works for Winchester Young Carers. So, what is a Young Carer? Do you know what you’re children are doing online? The internet is a great place to learn and have fun but we also need to know how to stay safe. Safer Internet Day is being celebrated on 11th February and we are running parent workshops to coincide with this. In other news this week, Year 1/2 are hoping to adopt a Koala, we have a reminder about the great work of our PTA and an outline of latest school improvement priorities.
We have lots to report this week, including our newly updated Vision statement, where you can find your child’s curriculum information, our revived link with a school in Muramba Valley and how you can have your say in our new Relationships and Sex Education Policy.
This term our priority in school is to review, explore and further develop our approach to reading, especially our approach to ‘reading for pleasure’. In this article I will share some of our plans, the ideas from our Young Governors and some helpful tips for reading at home.
